Production Supervisor

The production supervisor leads, coordinates, analyzes and adjusts all production-related activities in his/her area in order to produce sufficient products in safe working conditions, while making sure that this occurs in a quality- and cost efficient manner within the foreseen timeframe and with the best possible human relations. All this needs to happen in a way that continuous improvement is always pursued in all its aspects.

Accountabilities :

1.Security and 5S (6S) : To ensure and follow-up a safe and ergonomic work environment by taking into account the LEAN principles…

•          create an action plan for work accidents

•          formulate, create and implement proposals for improvement of the workstations 

•          perform audits that are in line with the general auditplan

 

2.         People Management Check both execution and compliance of the work and safety regulations. Besides, make sure that the prescribed working methods and –means are being used in the prescribed manner and react, if otherwise.

•          Guard the human relations and establish and maintain a good working atmosphere with the collaborators, colleagues and social partners

•          Encourage and follow-up compliance with the working hours of the collaborators and intervene, if necessary

•          Arrange back-to-work meetings that are conform to the feasible absenteeism procedure

 

3.         Training & Coaching : Ensure that the collaborators possess the necessary qualifications to perform their work and make sure that the required level of polyvalence is always available. If not, initiate action in this regard and - if necessary - provide trainings in cooperation with the Training Manager. Meanwhile, take on the role of a coach for the collaborators and Team Leaders.

•          Take on responsibility for smooth integration of new collaborators in his/her area

•          Coach the Teamleader in the solution of quality issues and approve the given solution

•          Be involved in the selection procedure of new collaborators

•          Audit and assess the performance of his/her area/shifts and adjust it where necessary

•          Evaluate all collaborators at least once a year

•          Support the planning of trainings for the collaborators

 

4.         Operational Management :

Ensure that the prescribed operational, quality and security procedures are followed at all times and step in, if necessary.

•          Be responsible for the availability of all necessary information and communication at the shop floor, colleague – supervisors and the Production Line Managers

•          Provide the necessary means, while also keeping in mind the costs

•          Perform operational audits conform to the agreed planning

•          Check the performance on a daily basis and analyze and adjust it by using the available Asco analysis tools.

 

5.         Planning : Apply the planning made by the Delivery Coordinator and the Production Line Manager and arrange the workforce in accordance with it. Redefine this planning while taking into account present boundaries and planned maintenance in order to reduce the changeover time, guarantee the quality and assure production.

6.         KPI’s : Take preventive and corrective measures and define concrete actions in order to always reach the necessary quality-, production-, security-, planning- and cost goals.

 

7.         Continuous Improvement

Initiate, encourage and perform initiatives for continuous improvement. Perform follow-up and be owner of the solution of quality- and productivity problems by using the known problem solving techniques and flow- and lean principles.

 

Profile Know-How and Experience

Education: Technical Bachelor or equal by experience

Language: Mother tongue French or Dutch and a good knowledge of the other language, and experience with English.

Skills/Experience:

•          Safety and quality awareness

•          Able to motivate people

•          Have an eye for people management: from coaching to discipline

•          Good analytical skills

•          Strong decisiveness

•          Good communicator bottom-up and top-down

•          Excellent time management and organization skills

•          Continuous improvement attitude

•          Experience with working in first line management and being in contact with operators is an asset

•          Knowledge of Lean/Flow- principles is an asset
