Technical Advisor Machining and Fixture Design

Montana Aerospace AG is a highly-vertically integrated manufacturer and supplier of system components and complex assemblies for the aerospace, e-mobility and energy sectors with worldwide engineering and manufacturing operations has acquired 100% of the share of the Asco Group beginning of April 2022.

For our Belgian plant we are looking for a Technical Advisor Machining and Fixture Design

Job Description :

The Technical Advisor will study, test, configure, implement and document (via best practices, guidelines or procedures) technical tools and processes related to the machining and fixture design activities. He/she will work on improvement of business processes related to the machining and fixture design activities. He/she will also coach and train the users inside the company. Additionally, when there is a need within the ME teams, the technical advisor may spend some of his time doing engineering work within a project team within his/her field of expertise. 

 

Accountabilities :

1. Continuous Improvement

Proactively develop, improve, test, configure, implement and document solutions and tools in his/her fields of expertise to make the users more efficient and/or anticipate the new demand from their customers.

  • Follow up new developments on the market, request and attend trainings as required, attend forums as required.
  • Analyse request of improvements made by the users.
  • Be in contact with suppliers for specific improvement projects.
  • Work on standardization of our equipment.
  • Support in R&D projects.
  • Pro-actively make suggestion of improvements to the N+1.

 

2. User Support

Coach and train the users by acting as focal point for technical issues with the solutions in Machining / Fixture Design and by providing associated procedures.

  • Coach/Train on-site and offshore personnel to the new features.
  • Actively help users in resolution of problems with solutions in his fields of expertise.
  • Update/Create procedures as required.
  • Create standard documents to capitalize technical experience.

  

3. Departmental & company support

When requested, the technical advisor will be part of project team as Manufacturing Engineer within his/her field of expertise.

He/she also actively helps other departments/plants in order to share best practices across ASCO group.

  • Be the focal point for other departments/sites when knowledge in his/her fields of expertise is necessary.
  • Actively help the organisation on technical knowledge in his/her fields of expertise in case of new investments.
  • Actively help Operations to resolve manufacturing and/or CNC machines problems (e.g. Quality Clinics, cross departmental meetings).
  • Provide process definition and estimations to Bidding team in his/her fields of expertise (RC, NRC and investment when applicable).
  • Actively help the CAPEX team to set and validate the requirements in his/her fields of expertise for a new investment.
  • Be in contact with suppliers for specific improvement projects
  • Take actively part of technical team on new or complex technologies projects in his/her fields of expertise (e.g. Engineering projects). His/her responsibilities are, in this case, the same as an engineer in his/her fields of expertise inside a project team.
  • Be a first player in concurrent engineering

 

4. Represents the department

Represent technically the department at a customer or subcontractor, during visits and tests at supplier.

 

Profile :

Education : Master in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent by experience 

Languages : Is capable to communicate (speak, read and write) in French, Dutch and English.

Skills / Experience :

  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in his/her field of expertise
  • Strong knowledge industrial manufacturing: milling techniques, CNC machines controllers, kinematics and geometry
  • Technical experience in cutting tools is required
  • Knowledge of Industrial design on 3D and 2D drawings.
  • Helicopter view and good knowledge on ME and Production processes
  • Capable of self-learning, Eager to learn
  • Interest in developing new methods and improving existing techniques
  • Independent, proactive, and have an eye for detail and a structure way of working
  • Strong structured analytical skills to think about solutions impact and risks
  • Logical Thinking skills (Problem-solving, Critical thinking, Creativity, Reasoning)
  • Good coaching/training skills of colleagues
  • Management skills to lead a small technical team
  • MS office experience required (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint, …)
  • General IT infrastructure knowledge
  • General software programming skills is preferable (Visual Basic, MATLAB, …)
  • Open to travel for short missions (1-2 weeks)
  • Good Communication skills, Social, Team player, Analytical, Open, Reporting
  • 3Dexperience, CATIA V5 and 3D Composer is required
