Supplier Quality Engineer (SQA)

Currently we are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer for our Belgian plant.

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQA Engineer) will follow the strategy defined by procurement and will assist in the selection of new suppliers and the development of products at (new) suppliers and will make continuous improvement activities with the key suppliers defined by the procurement strategy and will participate in the escalation process and define corrective action plans with suppliers to prevent reoccurrence of non-conformities at the suppliers in order to minimize the risk and to guarantee the production quality.

Accountabilities : 

1. Supplier Selection

Assess and evaluate system and process quality of potential new suppliers in supplier selection phase in order to follow the strategy defined by Procurement.

· perform system and process quality audits at potential new suppliers

· support the buyer during the RFQ phase

· compile audit reports and subsequent evaluation reports

· follow-up on the actions from audits

· perform follow-up evaluations

 

2. Supplier Development

Support and manage the launch of new parts, projects or new suppliers in order to minimize the risk for Asco.

· establish with suppliers and subcontractors the process of starting-up manufacturing of new parts

· perform FAI (First Article Inspections)

· monitor and manage quality performance during the start-up phase

· for critical and major parts follow the industrialization plan of the supplier

 

3. Continuous Improvement

Continuously improve quality performance of suppliers and subcontractors in order to develop partnerships with preferred suppliers and to become the customer of choice of these suppliers.

· identify improvement potential in suppliers quality process

· develop continuous quality improvement plans for supplier and subcontractor manufacturing processes

· implement and follow-up the continuous improvement programme (QIP programme) in co-operation with the buyer

· together with the commodity manager and the procurement quality manager identify key suppliers for continuous improvement

 

4. Current Business

 Control and manage process and product quality at suppliers in order to prevent potential issues

· Perform system, process and product quality audits at suppliers

· Compile audit reports and subsequent corrective action reports

· Follow-up on the actions from audits

· Perform follow-up audits

 

5. Follow-up of production

Manage supplier quality in production phase in order to avoid reoccurrence of problems

· Analyse reported quality problems with supplier parts

· Compile corrective action reports upon rejections

· Follow-up implementation of corrective actions

· Provide and report the quality metrics for supplier follow-up

 

Profile Know How and Experience :

Education: Engineering mater or equal by experience

Languages: French or Dutch, and English

Skills / Experience: 

· Experience in industrial manufacturing in an (international) mechanical company is a must; previous experience in a similar quality function is an advantage

· Thorough technical knowledge and interest, both product knowledge and process knowledge

· Well developed analytical skills

· Sensitive to commercial aspects

· Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills; capable to interact with senior management at suppliers

· Good team player

· Flexible and efficient

· Stress resistant

· Result oriented

· Takes initiative and displays a pro-active attitude

· Open to travel frequently
