Supplier Operations Engineer (SOM Engineer)

Montana Aerospace AG is a highly-vertically integrated manufacturer and supplier of system components and complex assemblies for the aerospace, e-mobility and energy sectors with worldwide engineering and manufacturing operations announced the signing of the acquisition of 100% of shares of the Asco Group on the 7th of September 2021.

The Supplier Operations Engineer holds the operational responsibility for the order management and the follow up of the deliveries for a group of direct production related materials associated with a number of assigned suppliers. He/she builds a long term business relationships with these suppliers so mutual targets can be achieved.

Accountabilities

1. Order management

  • Manage the ordering of materials and the fysical incoming supply chain for the assigned suppliers
  • Prevent / minimize the interruptions of production and shortage on inventories through pro-active management of the orderbook while guaranteeing follow up and communication
  • Negotiate with suppliers concerning availability of their material and the security of their promises and supply.
  • Anlyze root causes of production interruptions and shortage of inventories due to issues in the supply chain
  • Visualise and quantify supply risks, draw action plans for supply improvement, in line with production and customer expectations
  • Build recovery plans and counter measures for supply risk elimination and coordinate actions with internal experts (buyers, SQA, Logistics, teamleasder, mentor…).

2. Supplier performance measurement and follow-up

  • Perform On-Time-Delivery Supplier performance evaluation  to identify (non) tangible risks and opportunities for supplier to improve.
  • Evaluate and improve applicable internal supplier performance targets such as internal lead-times, inventory levels, takt times, ….

3. Master data management

  • Assure all-time accurate and reliable vendor and material master data and parameters in the applicable systems related to the assigned suppliers and materials.
  • Promote and develop the use of the Asco Supplier Portal (ASP) with suppliers and internal stakeholders

4. Change Management

  • Coordinate with internal and supplier stakeholders the implementation of supply chain changes impacting assigned suppliers (part design change, subtier, resourcing…)
  • Audit and assess manufacturing and logistic processes at existing and potential new suppliers and deliver the necessary reports
  • Document and track progress on corrective actions from the above mentioned audits
  • Apply the standard Transfer of Work procedure to identify and mitigate the risks

5. Supplier Development

Continuously develop the performance of the strategic suppliers nominated on management level for mutual company benefits and added value plans

  • Identify improvement potential at suppliers, in areas such as reduction of lead time, costs and supply/capacity risks
  • Develop specific (non)/ tangible target oriented continuous improvement plans
  • Implement and follow-up  continuous improvement programs in co-operation with the buyer,  SQA, other stakeholders….
  • Establish full documentation on supplier manufacturing processes, throughput times, supply risks, etc… to build supplier knowledge and history

Profile, Know How and Experience

Education: Supply Chain, Industrial or Civil engineer or equal by experience

Languages: French and/or Dutch, English

Skills / Experience: 

  • 5 years of Experience as a Supply Chain Specialist in the industry
  • Thorough knowledge and interest in logistics and lean manufacturing processes and familiar with Project Management Tools
  • Familiar with an ERP system and planning process
  • Analytical skills, facts based approach, great attention to details, good use of Excel
  • Sensitive to commercial aspects
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills; capable to interact with senior management at suppliers and build relationships
  • Good team-player but can work autonomously
  • Flexible thinker
  • Result oriented and takes responsibility
  • Takes initiative and display a pro-active attitude
  • Loves to work in a dynamic environment
